Nigth Wind at anchor

Night Wind reaching off Shoreham October 2005

She is a sea kindly boat and very stable although only 25ft at the waterline, her full figured lines give her the feel of a longer, heavier yacht. There is no slamming in a seaway, just the feeling of being gently cradled by a loving mother.

With self steering to take care of her while you make sail changes, the cutter rig and slab reefed main gives versatility to handle changing wind conditions quickly and easily.

Night Wind reaching away

A beautiful club boat that lends itself perfectly to a cruise up the coast or just a leisurely weekend on the Orwell taking in the sioghts and challenges of tidal sailing in the coastal rivers.

Caressa

On first sight Night Wind was the perfect club boat. As we saled her from Poole to Pin Mill, our initial feeleings were confirmed - she is a joy to sail. It was during this trip that the ethos of the club was brought home to us.

We condsider ourselves to be proud custodians of classic yachts that have been lovingly maintained by their previous owners.

Preserving and improving their condition, we hold these beautiful traditional timber craft for use, in turn, by the next generation.

Night Wind's exact provenance is the subject of some debate, however we do know she was built at Uphams in 1939 to a design probably inspried by the great amateur designer, Harrison Butler. Click here for the full story
